COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Sport Science, Health and Nutrition programme provides a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between physical activity, nutrition, health, and human performance. In Year 1, students develop a strong foundation in sport and exercise physiology, sport and exercise psychology, nutrition, healthy eating, and the social and cultural dimensions of sport. They also build essential academic and research skills that support evidence-based practice. In Year 2, the focus shifts towards the practical application of scientific knowledge through modules such as Clinical Exercise Physiology, Behaviour Change, Physical Activity and Health, Applied Nutrition, and Sport and Exercise Nutrition. Students also develop professional skills and can further tailor their studies through optional modules in applied physiology, sport psychology, or the sociology of sport, health, and the body. In Year 3, students undertake an independent Sport Project and Dissertation, enabling them to investigate a specialised area of interest in depth. Advanced modules explore applied topics in exercise nutrition and health, disease, illness and injury, and current issues in sport and exercise nutrition. Additional optional modules allow students to expand their expertise in areas such as sustainability and social justice in sport, strength and conditioning, or advanced sport psychology. This multidisciplinary curriculum equips graduates with scientific knowledge, practical skills, and professional experience, preparing them for careers in health promotion, nutrition, exercise referral, wellbeing services, sport science support, and related health and fitness industries.
