COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Software Engineering curriculum provides a structured pathway from foundational computing knowledge to advanced software development and professional practice. In Year 1, students build essential skills through modules such as Foundations of Computer Technology & Mathematics, Foundations of Computer Programming, Computer Science Programming, Computer Technology and Mathematics, Systems Analysis and Design (SAD), and Academic & Professional Development. These modules introduce core principles of programming, mathematics for computing, system design, and professional skills needed in the software industry. In Year 2, students deepen their technical expertise through Information and Database Engineering, Internet Application Programming, Practical Project Management and Professional Development, Software Design and Implementation, Software Engineering, and Systems Software. This stage focuses on developing real-world software solutions, understanding databases, designing applications, and applying structured engineering principles to software development. In Year 3, students undertake a major Project alongside Advanced Analysis and Design, Advanced Software Engineering, and Mobile Platform Applications. They also select an optional module such as Distributed Database Engineering, Service-centric and Cloud Computing, or Information Systems Management to specialise further. Throughout the program, students develop strong programming, analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. The course prepares graduates for careers in software engineering, application development, systems design, cloud computing, and other roles in the rapidly evolving technology sector.
