COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management curriculum provides a structured progression of technical, commercial, and professional knowledge for careers in construction cost management. In Year 1, students build foundational understanding through modules such as Fundamentals of Construction, Introduction to Measurement and Cost, Architectural Science and Building Engineering Services, Professional Skills and Digital Technologies, and Construction Industry Practice. These introduce core principles of construction processes, measurement techniques, building systems, and industry practices while developing essential professional and digital skills. In Year 2, students deepen their expertise through Construction Technology, Sustainable Technology and Building Engineering Services, Measurement, Contract Administration: Control and Finance, Law, and Cost Planning and Estimating. This stage focuses on understanding construction methods, sustainability, legal frameworks, financial control, and detailed cost management techniques used in real projects. In Year 3, students apply their knowledge in advanced contexts through a Quantity Surveying Project, Contract Practice, Project and Financial Management, and a Dissertation. These modules allow students to integrate technical, legal, and financial understanding while demonstrating independent research and problem-solving abilities. Across all three years, the program develops strong analytical, numerical, and commercial skills, alongside an understanding of construction law, sustainability, and project management. Graduates are prepared for professional roles in quantity surveying, commercial management, construction consultancy, cost planning, and broader careers within the construction and infrastructure sectors.
