COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Psychology (Cognition and Neuroscience) curriculum combines core psychological knowledge with specialist study of the brain, cognition, and behaviour. In Year 1, students establish a strong foundation through modules such as Understanding the Self: Psychology 101, Psychology in Action (Cognition and Neuroscience), Exploring Psychological Impact and Change, Research Design and Practice (1), Analysing Data: Methods and Tools (1), and Developing Academic Skills in Psychology. These modules introduce key psychological concepts, research methods, data analysis, and the scientific study of cognitive and neural processes. In Year 2, students deepen their understanding through Brain, Behaviour and Cognition: Understanding the Mind, Social Evolution and Individual Development, Analytical Thinking in Cognition and Neuroscience, Research Design and Practice (2), and Analysing Data: Methods and Tools (2). Optional modules such as Health Psychology of Illness, Occupational Psychology, Sport and Exercise Psychology, and Mind in Motion: Cognition, Neuroscience and Behaviour allow students to explore specialist interests. In Year 3, students apply their knowledge through Psychological Applications to Work Settings and a Research Project in Cognition and Neuroscience while selecting advanced optional modules. These include topics such as Clinical Neuropsychology, Addictive Behaviours, Person Perception, Ageing and Neurodegenerative Disease, Language and Literacy Development, Trauma, Social Development, and Psychopathology. Throughout the program, students develop strong research, analytical, and scientific skills, preparing them for careers in psychology, neuroscience, healthcare, research, education, and related professional fields.
