COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Property Development and Planning curriculum provides students with the knowledge, technical expertise, and professional skills required for careers in property development, planning, and the wider built environment sector. In Year 1, students establish a strong foundation through modules such as Surveying Skills 1 and 2, Construction 1, Planning and Land Use, Economics and Valuation, and Law. These modules introduce key principles of surveying, construction, land use planning, property economics, valuation, and legal frameworks relevant to the property industry. In Year 2, students build on this knowledge through modules including Property Management and Agency, Property Law, Employability and Commercial Awareness, Development and Planning, Planning Concepts, and Valuation. This stage focuses on understanding property markets, legal and regulatory requirements, development processes, professional practice, and commercial decision-making. In Year 3, students explore advanced and specialist topics through modules such as Heritage and Conservation, Development Consultancy 1 and 2, Planning Consultancy 1 and 2, and a Research Project. These modules enable students to develop consultancy skills, evaluate complex planning and development issues, and undertake independent research related to the built environment. Throughout the program, students strengthen their analytical, technical, communication, and problem-solving abilities while gaining a thorough understanding of property development and planning processes. Graduates are well prepared for careers in property development, planning consultancy, surveying, real estate, urban regeneration, and related professional fields.
