COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Pharmacology curriculum provides a comprehensive understanding of drug science, human biology, and disease processes through a progressive three-year structure. In Year 1, students build a strong scientific foundation by studying Introduction to Biochemistry, Living Systems, Practical Techniques for Biology, Genetics and Immunology, Introduction to Physiology, and Introduction to Pharmacology. These modules develop essential knowledge of biological systems, laboratory techniques, genetics, immune function, and the fundamental principles of how drugs interact with the body. In Year 2, the focus shifts to the study of disease and therapeutic interventions through modules such as Drugs of Addiction and Abuse, Immunopharmacology, Pathophysiology of Chronic Disease, Chemotherapy of Cancer and Infections, and Professional Skills for Pharmacology. Students also have the opportunity to specialize further by choosing either Neuroscience or Physiology as an optional module. In Year 3, students explore advanced topics including Clinical Pharmacology, Current Topics in Pharmacology, and Toxicology, while undertaking an independent Research Project that develops analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills. Optional modules in Current Topics in Neuroscience or Current Topics in Physiology allow students to tailor their studies to their interests. Throughout the program, students gain scientific, practical, and research expertise, preparing them for careers in pharmaceutical research, biotechnology, healthcare, drug development, and related life science industries.
