COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult) programme is structured to develop students into competent, compassionate, and evidence-based healthcare professionals capable of delivering high-quality care across a range of clinical settings. In Year 1, students are introduced to the fundamentals of nursing practice through modules such as Introduction to Nursing Practice, Foundations of Applied Nursing Practice, and Integrative Nursing Practice. These modules focus on building essential clinical skills, professional values, and an understanding of patient-centred care, supported by an initial practice assessment in real healthcare environments. In Year 2, students expand their knowledge by exploring evidence in nursing practice and applying biopsychosocial approaches to understand the physical, psychological, and social aspects of patient care. They also engage with applied nursing practice in complex care situations, further developing their clinical reasoning and decision-making abilities, alongside a second practice assessment. In Year 3, the focus shifts towards advanced professional development, including leadership, innovation, and the management of applied nursing care. Students learn how to contribute to improving healthcare services and enhancing patient outcomes through reflective practice and leadership skills, supported by a final practice assessment. Throughout the programme, students gain extensive hands-on experience in clinical settings, ensuring they are fully prepared for professional registration and capable of delivering safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care in hospitals, community services, and other healthcare environments.
