COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Mathematics with Statistics curriculum provides a strong blend of mathematical theory and statistical analysis, equipping students with the skills needed to interpret data and solve complex real-world problems. In Year 1, students establish a solid foundation in key mathematical areas through modules covering linear algebra, calculus, discrete mathematics, mathematical analysis, pure mathematics, and data analysis. These subjects develop essential analytical, logical, and computational skills that underpin advanced mathematical and statistical study. In Year 2, students build on this foundation by exploring linear algebra applications, differential equations, probability, statistical inference, advanced calculus, cryptography, and computational complexity. The Mathematical Enterprise module also helps students understand how mathematical and statistical knowledge can be applied in professional and industry settings. In the final year, the programme focuses on advanced statistical and mathematical techniques through modules in experimental design, machine learning, stochastic processes, medical statistics, financial modelling, and optimisation. Students also complete a project and professional skills module that develops independent research, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
