COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Economics with International Finance and Banking programme combines economic theory with specialised knowledge of global finance and banking, equipping students with the analytical and professional skills needed for careers in the financial sector. In the first year, students establish a strong foundation through modules such as Principles of Macroeconomics, Principles of Microeconomics, Quantitative Methods for Economists, Introductory Finance for Economists, Economic Policy in Context, and Personal and Academic Development. These modules introduce essential economic concepts, financial principles, and quantitative techniques used in economic and financial analysis. In the second year, students build on this knowledge through Intermediate Macroeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, Economics of International Banking, Applied Professional Development, and Financial Market Dynamics, gaining a deeper understanding of banking systems, international finance, and market behaviour. Students can also enhance their experience through opportunities such as Study Abroad, an Enterprise Project, or an Internship. Additionally, they choose between Econometrics and Survey Research and Analysis to develop advanced research and analytical skills. In the final year, students study Developing Professional Impact, Developments in Economic Theory, Money and Risk, and International Finance and Banking, focusing on advanced financial and economic issues. They further personalise their studies through a choice of either an Applied Business Research Project or Sustainability Impact Project, alongside optional modules such as Contemporary Economic Perspectives, Investment and Portfolio Management, or Econometric Methods. Graduates are well prepared for careers in banking, finance, investment, economic analysis, consultancy, and related sectors.
