COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Economics with Business programme provides a balanced combination of economic theory, business knowledge, and professional skills, preparing students to analyse complex economic and organisational issues in a global context. In the first year, students develop a strong foundation through modules such as Principles of Macroeconomics, Principles of Microeconomics, Quantitative Methods for Economists, Introductory Finance for Economists, Economic Policy in Context, and Personal and Academic Development. These modules introduce key economic concepts, financial principles, and analytical techniques used in business and policy decision-making. In the second year, students build on this knowledge through Intermediate Microeconomics, Intermediate Macroeconomics, Industrial Economics, Applied Professional Development, and Managerial Economics, gaining a deeper understanding of market structures, business strategy, and economic behaviour. Students can also broaden their experience through opportunities such as Study Abroad, an Enterprise Project, or an Internship. Additionally, they choose between Econometrics and Survey Research and Analysis to strengthen their research and data analysis capabilities. In the final year, students study Developing Professional Impact, Developments in Economic Theory, Economics of International Trade, and Contemporary Economic Perspectives, exploring advanced economic issues and global trade systems. They further personalise their studies through a choice of either an Applied Business Research Project or Sustainability Impact Project, alongside optional modules such as International Development Economics, Corporate Governance and Risk Management, or Econometric Methods. The programme equips graduates with strong analytical, business, and research skills for careers in economics, finance, business management, consultancy, and public policy.
