COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Cyber Security programme is structured to provide students with a strong foundation in computing, networking, and information security while developing the specialist skills needed to protect organisations from cyber threats. In the first year, students build essential technical knowledge through modules such as Foundations of Computer Programming, Foundations of Computer Technology and Mathematics, Systems Technology, Systems Programming, Systems Analysis and Design (SAD), and Academic and Professional Development. These modules introduce programming, computer systems, problem-solving, and professional skills that form the basis for advanced study. In the second year, students expand their expertise through Network Server Administration, Cyber Security, Distributed Network Architectures and Operating Systems, Information Security, Practical Project Management and Professional Development, and Advanced Networking. These subjects focus on network infrastructure, security management, operating systems, and the protection of digital assets. During the final year, students apply their knowledge through a major Project and advanced modules including Security in Practice, Digital Investigations, and Advanced Topics in Cyber Security. They also choose one optional module from Service-centric and Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, or Information Systems Management, allowing them to specialise in an area of interest. Throughout the programme, students gain practical experience in identifying vulnerabilities, securing systems, investigating cyber incidents, and implementing security solutions. This combination of theoretical understanding and hands-on learning prepares graduates for careers in cyber security, digital forensics, network security, information security management, and other technology-related professions.
