COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Construction Management programme is structured to develop the knowledge, technical expertise, and leadership skills required for managing construction projects effectively. In the first year, students gain a strong foundation in the construction industry through modules such as Fundamentals of Construction, Introduction to Measurement and Cost, Architectural Science and Building Engineering Services, Professional Skills and Digital Technologies, and Construction Industry Practice. These modules introduce key concepts related to construction processes, building systems, cost management, and professional development. In the second year, students expand their technical and managerial understanding through Construction Technology, Engineering Surveying, Sustainable Technology and Building Engineering Services, Contract Administration: Control and Finance, Construction Management Practice and Procedures, and Law. These subjects focus on project planning, legal frameworks, sustainability, financial management, and industry regulations that influence construction operations. During the final year, students apply their knowledge through advanced and industry-focused modules, including a Dissertation, Construction Management Project, Contemporary Construction Themes, and Corporate Management. These modules encourage independent research, critical analysis, strategic decision-making, and the application of management principles to real-world construction challenges. Throughout the programme, students develop a comprehensive understanding of construction management, combining technical knowledge with business and leadership skills. This prepares graduates for professional careers in construction management, project management, consultancy, and other roles within the construction and built environment sectors.
