COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng (Hons) Electronic and Electrical Engineering programme is designed to develop the technical knowledge, practical expertise, and problem-solving abilities required for modern engineering careers. In the first year, students establish a strong foundation through modules such as Engineering Science Fundamentals, Engineering Mathematics and Technical Computing, Innovation and Engineering Solutions, Principles of Electronics and Electronic Systems, and Electronic Devices and Materials Technology. These modules introduce core engineering principles, mathematical techniques, electronic systems, and materials used in modern technology. In the second year, students expand their knowledge through Digital Systems and Computer Engineering, Engineering Modelling and Simulation Techniques, Industrial Design and Product Case Studies, Integrated Group Design Project, Control Systems and Engineering, and Power Electronics and Systems Engineering. These subjects focus on system design, automation, computer engineering, power technologies, and collaborative engineering projects. In the final year, students apply their skills through an Individual Engineering Project while studying advanced topics such as Performance Engineering and Renewable Energy Technologies and Smart Grids. They can further specialise by choosing optional modules from Group A, including Sensors and Embedded Electronics, Human Factors Engineering, Sustainability in Engineering Design, or Electrical Machines and Electronic Drivers, and from Group B, selecting either Fundamentals of Industry 4.0 or Machine Learning for Engineers. Throughout the programme, students gain practical experience using industry-standard tools and technologies while exploring emerging areas such as renewable energy, smart systems, automation, and intelligent engineering solutions. Graduates are well prepared for careers in electronics, electrical engineering, renewable energy, manufacturing, automation, and advanced technology industries.
