COURSE CURRICULUM

The Aerospace Engineering BEng (Hons) programme provides students with a strong combination of engineering theory, technical skills, and practical industry knowledge across three years of study. In the first year, students develop a solid foundation in core engineering subjects, including engineering science, mathematics, technical computing, solid mechanics, dynamics, and thermofluids. They also explore innovation and engineering solutions, helping them understand how engineering principles are applied to real-world challenges. During the second year, the course becomes more specialised, covering topics such as digital systems, computer engineering, engineering modelling, simulation techniques, avionics, control systems, and advanced dynamics and vibration. Students also gain valuable teamwork and problem-solving experience through integrated group design projects and industrial design case studies. In the final year, students focus on advanced aerospace topics including performance engineering, aerospace technology, and an individual engineering project that develops independent research and technical expertise. Students can further tailor their studies through optional modules such as drones and autonomous flight, novel propulsion, sustainability in engineering design, human factors engineering, sensors and embedded electronics, and Industry 4.0. Overall, the programme prepares students with the technical, analytical, and practical skills needed for successful careers in the aerospace and engineering industries.
