COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Sports Photography programme provides a creative and industry-focused education that combines photography, storytelling, sport, and emerging digital technologies. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation by exploring the history, context, and future of photography while developing an understanding of sport both behind and beyond the lens. These modules introduce key photographic techniques, visual storytelling methods, and the cultural significance of sport in contemporary media. In Year 2, students expand their creative and professional skills through modules such as Experimental Sports Lab and Live Sports Assignments, which encourage innovation, practical experience, and engagement with real-world projects. The Co Lab module promotes research, exploration, collaboration, and creative risk-taking. Students can also personalise their studies through a diverse range of optional modules, including Ethical Design, Digital Marketing and Communication, Telling Stories, Performance for Motion Capture, Music Video production, Open-source 3D Art, Interactive Narrative, and Virtual Production. In Year 3, the programme focuses on preparing students for professional careers through modules such as Launchpad and Sketchpad, which support portfolio development, creative practice, and career planning. The study of contemporary and future storytelling techniques further enhances students’ understanding of evolving media landscapes. This curriculum equips graduates with advanced creative, technical, and storytelling skills, preparing them for careers in sports photography, visual media, digital content creation, creative production, and emerging technology-driven industries.
