COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Politics curriculum provides a comprehensive exploration of political systems, governance, international relations, and contemporary social issues through a balanced combination of theory and practical application. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Politics, British Politics and Beyond, Politics and International Relations in Practice, Young Citizens, Place and Belonging, Media Power and Truth, and Study and Research Skills. These modules introduce key political concepts, governance structures, media influence, citizenship, and essential academic skills. In Year 2, students deepen their understanding through core modules including UK Parliamentary Studies, Careers and Experience in Politics and International Relations, and Applied Social Research. A range of optional modules allows students to explore areas such as European politics, democracy, ethics, security studies, environmental policy, political marketing, culture, and foreign languages, enabling them to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. In Year 3, students undertake an independent Dissertation and study Leadership, Activism, and Campaigning, developing advanced research, analytical, and leadership skills. Additional optional modules cover topics including British and US politics, political violence, feminism, global politics, international relations, Middle Eastern and North African politics, negotiation, and foreign languages. Throughout the program, students develop critical thinking, communication, research, and problem-solving skills, preparing them for careers in government, policy, international affairs, media, advocacy, and public service.
