COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Politics and International Relations curriculum provides a comprehensive understanding of political systems, global affairs, governance, and international interactions through a progressive three-year structure. In Year 1, students develop a strong foundation through modules such as Politics, An Introduction to International Relations, British Politics and Beyond, Politics and International Relations in Practice, Media Power and Truth, and Study and Research Skills. These modules introduce key political concepts, international relations theories, media influence, and essential academic and analytical skills. In Year 2, students build on this knowledge through core modules including Global Political Marketing, Careers and Experience in Politics and International Relations, and Applied Social Research. A wide range of optional modules allows students to explore topics such as environmental politics, security studies, foreign policy, democracy, European politics, post-colonialism, global political economy, parliamentary studies, and foreign languages. In Year 3, students undertake an independent Dissertation and study Leadership, Activism, and Campaigning, developing advanced research, leadership, and communication skills. Optional modules cover diverse areas including political violence, feminism, Middle Eastern politics, US politics, globalisation, Eurasian geopolitics, Asian emerging powers, international negotiations, and global politics. Throughout the program, students enhance their critical thinking, research, problem-solving, and communication abilities while gaining a deep understanding of contemporary political and international issues, preparing them for careers in government, diplomacy, policy, international organizations, media, and public affairs.
