COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Music Production curriculum develops students into skilled, industry-aware audio professionals with strong creative and technical capabilities. In Year 1, students build core production skills through modules focused on recording studio practice, digital audio workstation techniques, composing and arranging music, vocal production, music for media, and commercial production methods. These modules establish a foundation in both creative music-making and technical sound production, helping students understand how professional audio content is created across different contexts. In Year 2, students expand their expertise by refining their individual artistic identity and exploring more advanced production techniques such as mixing, mastering, electronic production, sound design, and production music. A collaborative research and exploration module encourages experimentation and creative risk-taking. Students can also choose from optional modules including festival and events management, live streaming, music video production, journalism, live sound technologies, creative entrepreneurship, and podcast production, allowing them to tailor their learning to specific career interests. In Year 3, students focus on industry preparation and professional development through industry briefs, future career pathways, and a major capstone project supported by pre-production planning. Emerging technologies are also explored to ensure students remain up to date with evolving industry practices. Overall, the course combines hands-on studio experience, creative development, and industry engagement, preparing graduates for careers in music production, sound engineering, audio post-production, live and studio work, and broader roles within the creative audio industries.
