COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Music Business programme develops students’ knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed in the modern music and entertainment industry. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation through modules covering music business essentials, marketing and public relations, content creation, popular music history, event management, production, and professional practice. These modules introduce key industry concepts and help students understand how the music sector operates from both creative and commercial perspectives. In Year 2, students expand their expertise through collaborative projects that encourage research, experimentation, and creative risk-taking. They also study essential areas such as music copyright and law, data-driven storytelling, and talent development. Optional modules allow students to specialise in areas such as journalism for creative industries, digital audio production, live sound technology, live streaming, fashion-related media, music video production, and visual communication. In the final year, students focus on advanced industry practice through modules such as industry briefs, future pathways, and a major capstone project that demonstrates their professional and creative abilities. Pre-production planning and enterprise development modules support students in preparing for real-world careers and entrepreneurial opportunities in the music industry. Overall, the course combines academic study with hands-on experience, helping students develop skills in marketing, event production, content creation, talent management, and business strategy. Graduates are well prepared for careers in music business, live events, artist management, marketing, media production, and wider creative industries.
