COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Media Production curriculum provides students with a strong combination of creative, technical, and professional skills required for contemporary media industries. In Year 1, students develop foundational knowledge through modules in media techniques, sound production, media analysis, writing for media production, collaborative project work, and professional networking. These modules introduce the essential tools, technologies, and creative processes involved in producing engaging media content while building teamwork and communication skills. In Year 2, students advance their practical expertise through more specialised media production techniques, branding, and workplace-focused learning experiences. They also explore a range of creative production areas, including documentary filmmaking, short film production, audio storytelling, public communication, and issues relating to language and social justice. These modules encourage students to apply their technical abilities while developing their own creative voice and professional identity. In the final year, students undertake a major independent media production project, allowing them to demonstrate their skills through a substantial piece of creative work. A client-led production module provides valuable industry experience by simulating professional production environments and real-world briefs. Students can further personalise their studies through optional modules covering audio storytelling, experimental media, career development, media and tourism, popular culture, consumer culture, workplace readiness, and DJ culture. Together, these modules develop advanced production, storytelling, technical, and project management skills, preparing graduates for careers in film, television, digital media, content creation, broadcasting, audio production, and the wider creative industries.
