COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Fashion Design programme develops students into innovative and industry-ready designers by combining creative exploration with technical skill, research, and professional practice. In the first year, students build a foundation in design through Fashion Fundamentals and Specialisms alongside Design Fundamentals and Reflection, helping them understand core principles of fashion creation, experimentation, and visual communication. In the second year, students deepen their knowledge through Industry Practice and Menswear, Personal Exploration and Research, and a Co Lab module focused on research, experimentation, and creative risk-taking. They also select from a range of optional modules such as Slow Making and Craftsmanship, Millinery: Object and Narrative, Trend Forecasting, Web3 and Creative Autonomy, Prop Making, Virtual Production, Fashion Styling, and Drawing and Exploring with Natural Materials, allowing them to develop specialist interests and broaden their creative skill set. In the final year, students focus on advanced creative development through modules including Creative Practice and Theory, Creative Practice and Intention, and Creative Resolution and Futures, where they refine their personal design identity and produce a final body of work. Throughout the course, students are encouraged to experiment, research, and develop original ideas while considering sustainability, technology, and industry relevance. The programme prepares graduates for careers in fashion design, styling, textile development, trend forecasting, costume design, and other roles within the global fashion and creative industries by equipping them with strong conceptual, practical, and professional skills.
