COURSE CURRICULUM

The Animation – London BA (Hons) programme offers students a comprehensive education in animation, combining creative storytelling, technical production skills, and digital art practice across three years of study. In the first year, students develop a strong foundation in animation principles, animation workflows, visual effects studies, and 3D digital art. These modules introduce the essential techniques and creative processes involved in modern animation production. During the second year, students expand their practical and collaborative skills through core modules in animation production, animation studio practice, and creative research and experimentation. Students can also personalise their studies by selecting optional modules such as character ideation, interactive narrative, or tabletop game development, allowing them to explore different creative pathways and develop specialised interests. In the final year, students focus on professional and advanced creative practice through modules including Animation Specialist Project and Animation Futures. They also choose between Animation Pre-Production or Screen Arts Collaboration, helping them strengthen industry-focused skills and teamwork experience. Throughout the course, students create original animation projects and build a professional portfolio and showreel tailored to their career ambitions. Overall, the programme prepares graduates with the creativity, technical expertise, and professional confidence needed for careers in animation, gaming, film, television, and digital media industries.
