COURSE CURRICULUM

The Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visiting) Postgraduate Diploma at Northumbria University is structured around core modules that combine theoretical knowledge with practical expertise to prepare nurses and midwives for advanced public health practice. International and EU students take Academic Language Skills for PG Nursing and Midwifery students to support postgraduate-level communication and academic writing. The program includes Assessment, Surveillance, and Intervention for Specialist Public Health Practice, which equips students with the skills to assess health needs, monitor community health trends, and deliver effective interventions. Transforming Community Specialist Practice through Research, Policy, Evidence and Evaluation focuses on applying research, policy guidance, and evidence-based practice to enhance public health services and inform decision-making. Public Health Practice Across the Life Course explores the health and wellbeing of populations at different stages of life, helping students tailor interventions to meet diverse community needs. Advancing Public Health Services Through Leadership develops leadership, management, and collaborative skills, enabling graduates to influence practice and drive improvements within community health settings.
