COURSE CURRICULUM

The Real Estate MSc with Advanced Practice at Northumbria University is structured over two years, combining core academic modules with practical, industry-focused experience. In the first year, students develop a strong foundation in real estate principles and professional skills. Core modules include Commercial Property Valuation, where students learn to assess property value; Property Markets, Investment and Finance, focusing on investment strategies and market analysis; and Urban Planning and Development, exploring regulatory, social, and economic aspects of urban growth. Real Estate Concepts and Research Methods introduces key research principles and analytical techniques, while Real Estate Law and Asset Management covers legal frameworks and effective property management. Sustainable Construction and Technology examines modern construction practices and sustainability considerations. International and EU students also take Academic Language Skills for Architecture and Built Environment to enhance postgraduate-level writing and communication skills.In the second year, students consolidate their learning through two major components. The Dissertation in Real Estate allows students to undertake independent research, applying knowledge and skills to a practical or theoretical problem in the field. The Advanced Practice Semester provides hands-on, industry-relevant experience, enabling students to apply their learning in real-world settings and develop professional competencies. Together, these elements ensure graduates are equipped with analytical, practical, and professional expertise, preparing them for careers in real estate, property development, investment, asset management, and urban planning.
