COURSE CURRICULUM

The Aerospace Satellite Engineering (with Advanced Practice) MSc is structured over two years, combining core and optional modules to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical experience. In the first year, students study core subjects including Spacecraft Orbital Dynamics and Control, Wireless Communication Systems, Satellite Mission Design and Analysis, and Satellite Systems Engineering, which cover essential principles of satellite operation, communications, mission planning, and systems integration. International and EU students may also take Academic Language Skills for Mathematics, Physics and Electrical Engineering to support their academic communication, though this module carries no credits. Optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests and include Future Materials, Heat, Mass Transfer and Computational Fluid Dynamics, Advanced Embedded System Design Technology, Digital Design Automation, Photovoltaic System Technology, and Engineering Technology Management, offering opportunities to explore emerging technologies and specialized applications. In the second year, students undertake a 60-credit Advanced Practice semester, providing industry experience or applied research opportunities, followed by a 60-credit Advanced Satellite Engineering Project, which allows for in-depth investigation and application of engineering principles to real-world challenges. Together, these modules develop technical expertise, analytical and problem-solving skills, and professional experience, preparing graduates for careers in satellite engineering, space mission planning, aerospace research, and related high-technology sectors, while ensuring readiness to contribute effectively to the growing global space industry.
