The Sport Performance and Analysis MSc at Northumbria University is structured to provide a combination of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and research expertise for careers in high-performance sport. International and EU students take Academic Language Skills for PG Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation students to support postgraduate-level communication and academic writing. Core modules include the SER PG Project, which allows students to undertake an independent research project applying theory and practice to real-world performance issues, and Strategic Interactions in Performance Sport, which explores tactical and decision-making processes in elite sport. Sport Professional Practice develops applied skills, ethical practice, and professional competence within high-performance environments, while Performance Analysis and Data Analytics equips students with techniques for monitoring, evaluating, and interpreting performance data. Working with Elite Performers focuses on coaching, athlete management, and applied strategies to optimize performance. Research Methods ensures students gain the skills necessary for designing, conducting, and analysing research projects. Optional modules such as Physiology of Sport Performance, Applied Sport Nutrition, and Sponsorship and Strategic Sport Brand Management allow students to tailor the program to specific interests, including physiological insights, nutritional support, and commercial aspects of sport. Together, these modules provide a comprehensive education that integrates science, practice, and research, preparing graduates to contribute effectively in high-performance sport, coaching, and performance analysis roles while supporting professional and career development.
