COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Mathematics program offers a rigorous combination of core modules designed to develop advanced mathematical knowledge, analytical skills, and practical applications across a range of scientific and industrial contexts. Students study Time Series and Forecasting, gaining expertise in modelling temporal data and predicting future trends, and Numerical Solutions of Partial Differential Equations, which equips them with techniques for solving complex continuous systems. Complex and Random Systems explores stochastic and chaotic behaviours in natural and engineered systems, while Networks and Machine Learning introduces mathematical approaches to analysing data and extracting patterns in interconnected systems. Mathematical Modelling and Simulations develops the ability to create and test models for real-world phenomena, supported by computational techniques. Nonlinear Waves and Extreme Events examines the behaviour of waves and rare events in physical, environmental, and engineering contexts, providing insight into critical systems under extreme conditions. Academic Language Skills for Mathematics, Physics and Electrical Engineering, a non-credit module, supports international and EU students in developing effective academic communication. The program culminates in the MSc Mathematics Project, a 60-credit independent research project that allows students to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical problem-solving, applying advanced mathematical techniques to investigate original problems.
