COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Health Psychology curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of both theoretical and applied aspects of health psychology. The program begins with Academic Language Skills for postgraduate psychology students, supporting international and EU learners in developing effective academic communication. Core modules include Health Psychology in Theory and Practice, which introduces key concepts and their real-world applications, and Lifespan, Individual and Cultural Perspectives on Health Psychology, which explores how health is influenced by personal and cultural factors across different stages of life. Psychosomatic Pathways to Health and Illness examines the connections between psychological processes and physical health, while Systems Approaches to Understanding Health and Disease focuses on broader biological, social, and environmental influences. Students also develop strong research capabilities through Qualitative and Quantitative Methods, enabling them to design and conduct studies effectively. Professional Skills further prepares students for employment by enhancing practical competencies required in health-related roles. The program concludes with a 60-credit MSc Thesis, allowing students to carry out an independent research project in a specialised area of interest. Overall, the course integrates theory, research, and practical skills to prepare graduates for careers or further training in health psychology and related fields.
