COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Global Development curriculum provides a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to understanding global issues and development practices. Core modules such as Critical Development Thinking, Geopolitics of Development, Global Development Futures, and Contemporary Global Challenges equip students with a strong theoretical and analytical foundation, enabling them to critically examine global inequalities, policies, and development strategies. Postgraduate Research Methods prepares students with essential skills for conducting independent research, which is applied in the Research or Work Related Dissertation, a major component of the program that allows in-depth exploration of a chosen topic. Students can enhance their learning through optional modules such as Health and Well-being in Disaster and Development, which focuses on the impact of crises on communities, and the International Development Study Visit, offering valuable real-world exposure. For international and EU students, the Academic Language Skills module supports effective academic communication. The program integrates theory, research, and practical experience, encouraging students to engage with contemporary global issues from multiple perspectives. Overall, it prepares graduates with the knowledge, critical thinking abilities, and practical skills required for careers in global development, including roles in non-governmental organisations, government agencies, and international institutions.
