COURSE CURRICULUM

The Clinical Exercise Physiology MSc program is structured around a range of core modules that provide comprehensive knowledge of exercise science and its application in clinical settings. Students begin with modules such as Principles of Exercise Prescription and Assessment, which develops the ability to design and evaluate exercise programs tailored to individual needs. The course also covers key health conditions through modules including Cardiovascular Conditions, Respiratory, Cancer and Neurological Conditions, and Ageing, Musculoskeletal and Metabolic Conditions, enabling students to understand the role of exercise in prevention, management, and rehabilitation. The Critical Appraisal of Evidence in Clinical Exercise Physiology module enhances students’ ability to evaluate research and apply evidence-based practice. Research Methods further supports the development of academic and investigative skills. A significant component of the program is the SER PGT Clinical Placement and Professional Practice module, worth 60 credits, which provides hands-on experience in real clinical environments, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in practice. For international and EU students, the Academic Language Skills module offers additional support in academic communication, although it carries no credits. Overall, the program combines theoretical learning, research skills, and practical experience to prepare students for professional roles in clinical exercise physiology and rehabilitation.
