COURSE CURRICULUM

The Advanced Computer Science MSc curriculum combines core and optional modules to provide both foundational and specialized knowledge in computing. Core modules, generally worth 20 credits, include Advanced Programming, which develops high-level coding and software development skills, and Research Methods and Project Management, equipping students with the tools to plan, execute, and manage complex projects effectively. Big Data and Cloud Computing covers the storage, processing, and analysis of large-scale data, while Advanced Databases focuses on designing and managing efficient database systems. International and EU students may also take Academic Language Skills for Computer and Information Sciences to strengthen academic communication, although this module carries no credits. Optional modules allow students to tailor their learning according to interests and career goals, including Wireless Networks and Security, Human-Computer Interaction for Social Change, and Machine Learning, which provide opportunities to explore emerging technologies and specialized applications. The MSc Computer Science and Digital Technologies Project, a 60-credit component, enables students to undertake an extensive, research-driven practical project that integrates their learning from multiple modules. Together, the program develops advanced technical expertise, critical problem-solving abilities, and practical experience, preparing graduates for careers in software development, data analytics, network security, IT consultancy, and other technology-driven roles, while equipping them to contribute effectively to innovation and digital transformation in industry.
