COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Public Health (Palliative and End-of-Life Care) combines core modules that provide a comprehensive foundation in public health while addressing the specific challenges of end-of-life care. Students begin with Research: Approaches, Methods and Skills, developing essential research techniques, and Public Health Fundamentals: Concepts, Theories and Frameworks, which introduces key principles, theories, and frameworks underlying public health policy and practice. Public Health Intelligence and Epidemiology: Informing Policy and Strategy equips students with the ability to analyse health data and apply evidence-based approaches to guide interventions and decision-making. Core modules specific to palliative and end-of-life care include Public Health Palliative Care: An Introduction, which explores the role of public health in supporting dying, caregiving, and community readiness, and Death, Dying, and Grief: Public Health Challenges, which examines the social, cultural, and policy implications of end-of-life care. Academic Language Skills for PG Health Students, a non-credit module, supports international and EU students in developing academic communication. The program culminates in a Dissertation Project, allowing students to undertake an independent research study that integrates public health theory with applied practice in palliative care. Together, these modules prepare graduates to design and implement evidence-based interventions, influence policy, and lead initiatives that improve care, community engagement, and health outcomes in end-of-life contexts.
