COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Architecture (MArch) program is structured over two years, combining core modules, design projects, and optional academic support to provide a comprehensive professional education. In the first year, students develop foundational skills through modules such as Design Project 1: Experimentation and Design Project 2: Speculation, each worth 30 credits, which encourage creative exploration, innovation, and conceptual thinking in architectural design. Architectural Research Methods introduces students to critical research techniques and methodologies applicable to professional practice, while Practice Management and Law provides essential knowledge of legal frameworks, business management, and regulatory requirements in architecture. International and EU students may take Academic Language Skills for Architecture and Built Environment to support academic communication, though this module carries no credits. In the second year, students progress to more advanced design work with Design Project 3: Analysis and Proposal and Design Project 4: Realisation, worth 40 and 50 credits respectively, focusing on in-depth analysis, technical development, and practical implementation of architectural projects. The Student Selected Investigation allows learners to undertake independent research in an area of personal interest, enhancing critical thinking and analytical skills. The combination of studio practice, research, and professional studies equips graduates with the technical, creative, and professional expertise required to excel in contemporary architecture and contribute meaningfully to the built environment.
