COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Fashion Design curriculum is structured to support the development of both creative practice and research skills through a range of core modules. Fashion Context and Relevance introduces students to critical perspectives within the fashion industry, helping them understand cultural, social, and professional influences on design. Industry and Enterprise focuses on preparing students for professional practice by developing business awareness and entrepreneurial skills. The Fashion Research Proposal and Fashion Research Experimentation modules guide students in planning and exploring their individual research projects, encouraging innovation and the testing of new ideas, materials, and techniques. These stages lead into Fashion Project Realisation, where students bring their concepts to life through practical design work. The Project Thesis and Portfolio form a major part of the program, allowing students to present a comprehensive body of work that combines creative output with academic research. For international and EU students, the Academic Language Skills module supports the development of effective communication and academic writing. Overall, the program integrates theory, research, and hands-on practice, enabling students to develop a strong personal design identity and preparing them for careers in the fashion industry or further academic study.
