COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Design for Social and Environmental Innovation program includes a series of core studio-based modules that emphasise practical, collaborative, and socially driven design learning. Design Activism Studio introduces students to using design as a tool for advocacy and positive social change, while Social Design Studio focuses on addressing societal challenges through inclusive and community-oriented approaches. Relational Design Studio explores the importance of relationships between people, systems, and environments in the design process. Design for Critical Transitions Studio encourages students to engage with complex global issues such as environmental and societal shifts, helping them develop strategies for sustainable futures. The program is anchored by Responsible Design Innovation Studio, a major 60-credit module that allows students to undertake in-depth projects addressing real-world problems with ethical and sustainable considerations. Complementing this is the Responsive Design Innovation Studio, which further develops adaptability and innovation in dynamic contexts. Academic Language Skills for Design and Fashion, a non-credit module, supports international and EU students in strengthening their academic communication. Together, these modules provide a comprehensive, practice-based learning experience that equips students with the skills to apply design thinking creatively and responsibly in addressing social and environmental challenges.
