COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Communication Design program is structured around a series of core modules that guide students through the development of creative, critical, and professional design skills. Contextualise and Critique focuses on building a strong theoretical foundation, encouraging students to analyse and evaluate design practices within cultural, social, and historical contexts. Explore and Experiment allows students to develop their creative approach through practical exploration of different techniques, tools, and media, fostering innovation and originality. Collaborate and Challenge emphasises teamwork and problem-solving, where students engage in collaborative projects and respond to real-world design challenges, enhancing their ability to work effectively in professional environments. The final module, Evolve and Expand, is a 60-credit project that enables students to refine their individual practice through a major body of work, demonstrating their skills, creativity, and professional direction. For international and EU students, the Academic Language Skills for Design and Fashion module provides additional support in developing academic communication skills, although it carries no credits. Overall, the program offers a balanced combination of theory, experimentation, collaboration, and independent practice, equipping students with the knowledge and experience needed to succeed in the dynamic field of communication design.
