COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Business Management (Extended Degree) BSc (Hons) at Northumbria University is a four-year program designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and global perspective required for careers in international business and management. The first year provides a foundation in business, covering financial decision making, business analysis, global marketing and communications, the global business environment, entrepreneurship, and preparation for professional practice, with academic language support for international and EU students. In the second year, students build on this foundation through modules on strategic frameworks, international business growth strategies, managing people across borders, and business research, while optional modules and a study abroad semester offer international exposure, innovation, digital economy insights, operations management, finance, and negotiation skills, enhancing practical and global experience. The third year allows students to gain professional and international experience through options including work placements, study abroad, or blended placement semesters, providing hands-on learning and exposure to real-world business contexts. The final year focuses on advanced topics such as contemporary issues in international business, strategic management, international business and innovation, with optional opportunities for a dissertation, consultancy project, management enquiry, studies in emerging economies, and business ethics. The program combines theoretical knowledge, practical application, international experience, and professional development, preparing graduates for global business careers with strong analytical, strategic, and cross-cultural skills.
