COURSE CURRICULUM

The Health and Social Care BSc (Hons) course is structured over four years to provide a strong balance of academic knowledge, practical skills, and professional experience. In Year 1, students build a solid foundation by studying key topics such as health and social care policy, professional practice, academic research, and social justice, along with understanding the needs of children and young people in care settings. Year 2 focuses on developing applied knowledge and skills through modules in research in practice, public health, communication, and international perspectives, as well as exploring care for older adults. Students can also choose optional modules to tailor their studies to specific interests. Year 3 offers valuable opportunities for real-world and global experience through optional work placements or study abroad programs, allowing students to enhance their practical skills and broaden their understanding of different care systems. In Year 4, students concentrate on advanced topics such as leadership, management, safe practice, and policy analysis in integrated health and social care, alongside completing a major project that demonstrates their research and critical thinking abilities. Academic language support is available for international students, and the course prepares graduates for a wide range of careers in health, social care, and community services.
