COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Business Management (Extended Degree) BSc (Hons) at Northumbria University is a four-year program designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and global perspective required for careers in international business and management. The foundation year offers an alternative entry route for those who do not meet standard requirements, focusing on professional development, business environment and functions, information management, entrepreneurship and innovation, responsible business, and leadership projects to build essential academic and practical skills. In the first year, students develop core competencies in financial decision-making, business analysis, global marketing and communications, the international business environment, entrepreneurship, and preparation for professional practice, supported by academic language modules for international and EU students. The second year expands these skills with modules on strategic frameworks, international business growth strategies, managing people across borders, and business research, alongside optional study abroad opportunities, operations management, innovation, born-global enterprises, the digital economy, finance, and international negotiation, providing practical and global exposure. The third year offers optional work placements or study abroad experiences, giving students hands-on professional and international learning opportunities. In the final year, students engage with contemporary business issues, strategic management, international business and innovation, business ethics, and have the option to undertake a dissertation, management enquiry, or consultancy project. Overall, the program combines theoretical knowledge, practical application, and global experience to prepare graduates for success in international business and management careers.
