COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics and Finance (Extended Degree) BSc (Hons) is a four-year program designed to build strong foundations in economic theory, financial systems, and analytical skills. The Foundation Year introduces essential topics such as professional practice, mathematics and statistics, financial systems, ethics, business intelligence, and contemporary issues, preparing students for degree-level study. In Year 1, students develop core knowledge through modules including Introduction to Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, Financial Decision Making, and Accounting, Economics and Finance in a Global Business Environment, alongside mathematical and statistical training and career development support. Year 2 advances this learning with modules such as Financial Markets and Institutions, Econometrics, and Intermediate Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, while also focusing on professional practice and quantitative skills. Students may also choose to study abroad to gain international exposure. Year 3 provides flexible opportunities for practical and global experience through work placements, study abroad, or blended programs, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world contexts. In Year 4, students focus on advanced topics including Applied Microeconomics, Advanced Macroeconomics, Contemporary Issues in Economics and Finance, and Sustainable Development and Responsible Business, alongside options to complete a dissertation, management enquiry, or consultancy project. Overall, the program equips graduates with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed for careers in finance, economics, and related fields.
