COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Business Computing program provides a comprehensive education that integrates technical computing skills with business knowledge, preparing students for careers in IT, analytics, and digital business. The foundation year introduces students to essential skills through modules such as personal, academic and skills development, digital technologies, information systems, beginner coding, digital society case studies, and physical computing, establishing a solid grounding in both technical and professional competencies. Year 1 develops this further with core modules including business fundamentals, computational thinking, computing fundamentals, data fundamentals, programming, and computers and society, along with academic language support for international and EU students. In Year 2, students advance their knowledge through business information systems, human-computer interaction, and requirements engineering, while also having the option to study software architecture, computer vision, data visualization, digital forensics, mobile and web app development, contemporary computing issues, and professional practice experiences such as internships, consultancy projects, and group projects. Year 3 offers optional opportunities for a work placement or study abroad, providing practical exposure in real-world environments. In Year 4, students consolidate their learning with advanced modules in business intelligence, computing projects, data security and governance, experimental design for interactive applications, and group project work, enabling them to develop practical, analytical, and leadership skills. The program equips graduates to enter a variety of technology-driven business roles with strong technical expertise and strategic understanding.
