COURSE CURRICULUM

The Accounting (Extended Degree) BSc (Hons) program is designed to develop students’ knowledge and skills progressively across four years, starting with a foundation year that builds essential understanding in accounting, finance, and economics. This initial stage covers professional practice, mathematics and statistics, financial systems, ethics, business analytics, and contemporary issues. In Year 1, students strengthen their core academic and technical abilities through modules in financial accounting, business law, global business environments, management accounting, and career development, alongside further study in mathematics and statistics. Year 2 advances this knowledge with a focus on financial markets, corporate governance, group accounting, taxation, and professional practice, while continuing to enhance analytical and decision-making skills. Year 3 offers flexibility through optional opportunities such as a full work placement year, a study abroad year, or a blended option combining both, allowing students to gain valuable international exposure and practical experience. In the final year, students explore advanced topics including sustainable business, assurance, financial reporting, and financial management, and complete a major independent project such as a dissertation, management enquiry, or consultancy project. Overall, the program prepares graduates for professional careers in accounting and finance with a strong balance of theory and practical experience.
