COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Business Management (Extended Degree) BSc (Hons) at Northumbria University is a structured program designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to operate effectively in global business environments. The foundation year provides an alternative entry route for students who do not meet standard undergraduate requirements, focusing on professional development, the business environment and functions, information management, entrepreneurship and innovation, responsible business, and leadership and management projects, building a strong academic and practical foundation. In the first year, students develop core competencies in financial decision-making, business analysis, global marketing, the international business environment, entrepreneurship, and professional practice, with academic language support for international and EU students. The second year expands learning with modules on international management frameworks, business growth strategies, managing people across borders, and business research, alongside optional modules including study abroad, operations management, innovation, born-global enterprises, the digital economy, finance, and international negotiation, allowing students to gain global experience and cultural awareness. In the final year, students engage in advanced topics such as strategic management, international business and innovation, contemporary issues, and have opportunities for a dissertation, management enquiry, or consultancy project. Across all years, the program integrates theoretical knowledge, practical application, and global perspectives, preparing graduates to pursue careers in international business, management, consulting, and entrepreneurship with a strong understanding of cross-cultural and strategic business practice.
