COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics and Finance (Extended Degree) BSc (Hons) is structured to develop strong analytical, quantitative, and professional skills across four stages of study. The Foundation Year introduces key concepts in accounting, finance, and economics, alongside practical mathematics, ethics, business intelligence, and contemporary issues, helping students build a solid academic base. In Year 1, students gain fundamental knowledge through modules such as Introduction to Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, Financial Decision Making, and Accounting, Economics and Finance in a Global Business Environment, while also developing mathematical and statistical skills and exploring career pathways. Year 2 builds on this foundation with more advanced study, including Financial Markets and Institutions, Econometrics, and Intermediate Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, alongside professional practice and quantitative methods. Students also have the opportunity to study abroad, gaining valuable international experience. In Year 3, the focus shifts to advanced and applied topics such as Applied Microeconomics, Advanced Macroeconomics, Contemporary Issues in Economics and Finance, and Sustainable Development and Responsible Business. Students can also choose to complete a dissertation, management enquiry, or consultancy project, allowing them to apply their knowledge in practical contexts. Overall, the program combines academic theory with real-world application, preparing graduates for careers in finance, economics, and related professional fields.
