COURSE CURRICULUM

The Artificial Intelligence (Extended Degree) BSc (Hons) program is structured to build strong foundations and advanced expertise in computing and AI over four stages. The foundation year introduces essential skills in digital technologies, programming, information systems, and physical computing, alongside personal and academic development. In Year 1, students develop core computing knowledge through modules such as AI fundamentals, computational thinking, programming, data fundamentals, and the relationship between computers and society, establishing a solid base for further study. Year 2 expands into more specialised areas, including algorithms, human-centered AI, and data mining, while offering a wide range of optional modules such as software architecture, computer vision, data visualization, and mobile app development, allowing students to tailor their learning to their interests. Opportunities for professional experience, internships, and consultancy projects are also available. In the final year, students focus on advanced topics such as machine learning, data security, and analytics, while completing a major individual computing project and a group project, applying their skills to real-world challenges. Optional modules like robotics and software development methods provide further specialisation. Overall, the program equips students with a comprehensive mix of technical knowledge, practical experience, and professional skills for careers in artificial intelligence and computing.
