COURSE CURRICULUM

The Accounting (Extended Degree) BSc (Hons) program is structured to build knowledge progressively from foundational concepts to advanced professional skills. The foundation year introduces students to key areas such as professional practice, mathematics and statistics, financial systems, ethics, business analytics, and contemporary financial issues. In Year 1, students develop core academic and technical skills through modules covering financial accounting, business law, global business environments, management accounting, and career preparation, alongside further study in mathematics and statistics. Year 2 focuses on more advanced topics, including financial markets, corporate governance, group accounting, taxation, and professional practice, while continuing to strengthen analytical and management accounting abilities. In Year 3, students explore strategic and forward-looking areas such as sustainable business, assurance, financial reporting, and financial management. They also complete a major independent project, choosing between a dissertation, management enquiry, or consultancy project, allowing them to apply their learning in a practical or research-based context. Overall, the course provides a comprehensive blend of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and professional development, preparing students for careers in accounting, finance, and related fields while supporting progression toward professional qualifications.
