COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sport Management BSc (Hons) at Northumbria University provides a structured three-year program designed to develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the sports industry. In the first year, students build foundational expertise through core modules in academic and professional skills, research methods, fundamentals of sport management, sport marketing, finance and governance, and social issues affecting sport consumers, with academic language support available for international and EU students. The second year focuses on developing strategic and applied management skills, including research design, professional development, sport leadership, and strategic business planning, alongside optional modules such as digital marketing, analytics, physical activity, school sport, and the opportunity to study abroad. In the third year, students consolidate their learning through a substantial undergraduate project and core modules in sport event management and facility operations, while also choosing from optional modules in global sport business, applied coaching, health and behaviour change, equity, diversity and inclusion, third sector sport management, and professional career development. Academic language support continues to be available for international and EU students, and optional language modules are offered to enhance global employability. Across all years, the program combines academic study with applied learning opportunities, preparing graduates with the knowledge, practical experience, and transferable skills required for successful careers in the dynamic global sports industry.
