COURSE CURRICULUM

The Real Estate BSc (Hons) program at Northumbria University is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the built environment and the professional skills required to excel in the real estate sector. In the first year, students study the evolution of the built environment, development and construction economics, construction technology, law for surveyors, property surveying, and professional practice, alongside academic language support for international and EU students. This foundation equips students with a solid understanding of core principles and industry practices. The second year builds on this knowledge with modules in urban planning and development, applied valuation, property asset management, property agency and market research, real estate economics, and business and professional development. These modules develop analytical, management, and financial skills essential for evaluating and managing real estate assets effectively. The final year focuses on advanced topics such as commercial real estate appraisal, real estate development, corporate real estate management, and real estate investment and finance, alongside a surveying dissertation that allows students to apply research and practical skills to a project of their choice. Optional academic language support continues to aid international students. By the end of the program, graduates gain the expertise needed for careers in property management, investment, development, appraisal, and related professional roles within the real estate industry.
