COURSE CURRICULUM

The Physics with Astrophysics BSc (Hons) program is structured over three years to provide a strong foundation in physics alongside specialised knowledge in astrophysics. In Year 1, students are introduced to core topics such as calculus, dynamics, waves, electricity, and the origins of the universe, while also developing essential research, analytical, and experimental skills through practical modules. Year 2 builds on this foundation with advanced subjects including higher-level mathematics, space-time, electromagnetism, quantum physics, semiconductor physics, and thermal and nuclear energy, combining theoretical understanding with computation and experimentation. In the final year, students focus on specialised astrophysics topics such as cosmology, stellar evolution, and solar physics, while also completing an individual physics project that develops independent research skills. Core modules like quantum devices are complemented by optional subjects such as fluid dynamics, dynamical systems, and space environment, allowing students to tailor their studies to their interests. Throughout the program, international and EU students may receive additional academic language support to enhance communication and academic success. Overall, the course integrates theoretical knowledge, practical experience, and research skills, preparing graduates for careers in the space sector, science, and technology or further academic study.
