COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mathematics BSc (Hons) program is structured over three years to provide a comprehensive education in both pure and applied mathematics, supported by opportunities to develop practical and analytical skills. In the first year, students build a solid foundation with core modules including calculus, computational mathematics, dynamics, probability and statistics, real analysis, and linear algebra and geometry, along with academic language support for international and EU students. The second year advances these skills through modules in further computational mathematics, applied statistical methods, ordinary and partial differential equations, vector calculus and further dynamics, complex variables, and statistical modelling and data visualisation, continuing to provide language support where needed. The final year offers opportunities for specialisation and application of knowledge, with optional modules such as financial mathematics, fluid dynamics, dynamical systems, advanced statistical methods, medical statistics, geophysical dynamics, data science, and methods of applied mathematics. All students complete a core project that allows them to apply theoretical concepts to a substantial problem, developing independent research and analytical skills. This progression ensures graduates gain both a deep understanding of mathematical theory and practical experience in modelling, computation, and statistical analysis, preparing them for diverse careers in finance, data science, engineering, research, and other fields where strong quantitative and problem-solving skills are essential.
